There are certain rights of passage for all backpackers: The first big trip “Out West,” a solo backpacking trip, multiple day outing, a winter backpack, and so on…
And on this list is undeniably a trip to the Grand Canyon.
Much to my chagrin. I have NEVER been to the Grand Canyon.
Not on a day hike, not camping, and certainly not backpacking.
Today (Wednesday), I fly out to Phoenix, have my friend Andy pick me up and then we are off to The Big Ditch for a few days. I’ll finally be seeing the largest canyon in the United States.
I’m looking forward to it.
It is about time and long overdue!
Can’t wait to hear about this trip! My girlfriend and I are doing rim to rim to rim the beginning of next March!
